Jun 29, 2017 I think Dex is better. Get a good dex scaling weapon so you can get extra damage and more casting speed to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Plus, you want attunement at least at 30, health somewhere around 30 by the end of the game, and dex at a good place to scale your weapon. Reduces cast speed; Reduces fall damage; DEX soft caps are at 40 and 60. Most (probably all builds) will stop at 40 DEX anyways. Like STR, damage gains are significantly reduced after 60. Intelligence (INT) Increases sorcery, pyromancy, and dark spell damage (not miracle spell damage) Increases the damage of crystal and simple infused weapons.

- Damage modifier on weapons with Dexterity scaling
- Damage modifier for Dark Sorceries, depending on the catalyst's Dexterity scaling in addition to the catalyst's MagAdjust
- Increases the casting speed of some Pyromancies, Sorceries, and Miracles
- Casting speed starts increasing at 35 Dexterity
Dexterity Requirements
Equipments listed here are only the ones that needs more than 8 points of Dexterity, because the lowest Dexterity possible on any starting character is 8 (by choosing Cleric as a starting class). Remember that this list is only the Dexterity requirement for an equipment, so may need to put points in other stats to effectively use it.

Notes
- Increases the casting speed of offensive spells only (doesn't affect defensive spells, weapon attack speed, or other animations), and is capped at 45 Dexterity. (video)
- Lack of Dexterity to wield a weapon or shield (as shown with the red X on the D-pad menu) doesn't make the character have a different animation like Strength does, but the weapon still gets the damage penalty and bouncing attacks
- Contribution as a modifier for weapon scaling drops drastically after 40 (for weapons in Normal/Raw/Crystal path and unique weapons) or 50 (for weapons in Magic/Divine/Enchanted/Occult path)
